Michael Herman
Michael Herman is an emerging Toronto-based glass artist. Through a time honoured glass fusing
process in a kiln, Michael adds a unique approach, creating a thick colourful glass panel. Each piece of art is made from many hand-cut pieces and kiln-fired together at 1000’s of degrees. On these transparent colour-fields, layers of glass enamel paints are applied that define line, texture and tonality. The involved conception and creation of each work produces artwork that embodies a moment of natural light and colour captured in glass. The transparent layers of glass act as light timekeepers. These glass sculptures reveal their stories while they track the ever-changing quality of light, from sunrise to sunset, from spring through winter. Every moment is unique. The stories are never the same.
