Mathieu Grodet
Mathieu Grodet was born in Orleans, France, where he first studied art at the Visual Art Institute of Orleans before discovering glass in 1999. Then he trained in different studios across France and Europe. He also learned flame working in CERFAV (European Centre for Research and Training in Glass Art). After many travels, Mathieu dropped his suitcases in Quebec, where he can now apply the different techniques learnt over the years. Using his personality and experiences he blows delicate goblets as a classic blank form to draw some little scenes reflecting his visions of the outside world. This work allows him to push his glass techniques as well as exploring his passion for drawing. His work can be seen in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Fine Art in Quebec. Mathieu’s work has also been purchased for private and public collations in Europe and North America.
