Jeweliyana Reece
The love affair began long before I ever knew what fused glass was. I used to smash colored bottles and
include them in my clay compositions. I love how the translucent colors lure you into their depths and take you on a journey as light dances through the shadows of the glass. Being a sensory person I can’t help but play with textures - tempting one to touch the untouchable. On a visit to the Van Gogh Museumin Amsterdam I fell in love with the millions of little dots and strokes in Van Gogh’s ‘A Cottage at Darkness’.
This piece combines all of these loves wrapped in the romance of my favorite season.
Autumn’s Passionate Goodbye
With the first kiss of frost, Something stirs in the veins, Calling leaves to let go and soar with the wind. Blushing crimson with excitement, They near jump of the trees in their passionate abandon. Barely waving goodbye as they go. Knowing not, What destiny awaits.
Jeweliyana Reece is a self taught kiln formed glass artist based in Calgary. In 2010, after an award winning business career, her dream of being a full time artist became a reality when she launched InFused Glassworks.
