Jerre Davidson
Born in Scotland, Jerre Davidson immigrated to Canada in 1988. Her early career in dance at the Scottish Ballet School in Edinburgh instilled in her a love of rhythm and movement and she seeks out these patterns in the landscape as inspiration. Her work has been exhibited in Korea, Scotland and USA as well as locally in Canada and is in private collections nationally and internationally. Jerre’s studio is situated near the Elora Gorge in
Ontario.
“The rhythms of the landscape intrigue me. Every place has a unique tempo. It can be slow and sensuous
like the waves lapping the shore or harsh and staccato like an up-thrusting rock formation. I am captivated by how light plays on water and how the wind moves the leaves on the trees. Water is a primary element both in the landscape and in my work and I use the hard and fluid properties of glass to create realistic
and abstract images that share my sense of place within the environment. My hope is that the viewer will smell the damp earth, hear the rushing water or feel the wind in their face as they view my finished work"
