Jacqueline Cornford
I trained in traditional methods of stained glass using mouth blown European glass and painting with metal oxides which are fused to the glass in the kiln at a high temperature of circa 650°C. Lead calmes are also used.
With the development of decorative factory glass, modern materials and methods are used like light sensitive ultra violet glues and the fusing and slumping of glass with moulds.
For the photography and glass panels I have developed, I use, for example, distortion of image, and over or under exposure of a scene to convey meanings, movement or perhaps a dream like quality in the panel. A further visual ambiguity is achieved with an overlay of decorative glass or two. The traditional painted stained glass panel may also be layered with glass.
The refractive and reflective qualities achieved in the panels echo the transparency of nature in leaves, dappled sunlight through the trees and floating images in space.
Quantum physics opens our vision to the multi-dimensional universe. We are all part of a magnificent Creation of Beauty, Love and Oneness.
